Location Suggestions
Outdoor sessions are the preferred choice of most clients. Have a favorite spot? Call and let’s discuss your options.
Location! Location! Location! Beautiful portraits can be made at literally any location, but a great location makes your portraits even better! There are many location options for your custom portrait session. Your home, your favorite park, downtown, anyplace that is significant to you or anyplace that is visually appealing to you.
Laurie will meet you at the location previously agreed upon during your consultation. Our pricing includes travel up to a 25 mile radius of the 76118 zip code, but for an additional travel fee we will travel up to a 200 mile radius.

Outdoor sessions offer a greater variety for your custom portrait background and gives dimension to your portrait that no fabric backdrop can offer. Outdoor portraits are also the preferred choice as to take advantage of natural light which creates more pleasing skin tones.
Outdoor portrait sessions are done when the sun is low in the sky. Either in the early morning, 1 hour after sunrise or in the early evening, 1 hour before sunset. This is to take advantage of the best light of the day and to avoid the harsh shadows and racoon eyes (and inevitable squinting) caused by the high daytime sun. Don’t worry if the forecast is for a cloudy or overcast day, as we have a little more flexibility with the actual time of your session, because really, cloudy/overcast days provide some of the best light for photographing outdoors.
Please contact us with your desired date and time. We will look and see what the forecast is for that date, and check the sunrise/sunset schedule to work out the most appropriate date and time.
Although the outdoors is her preference, that certainly is not your only option. Indoor studio sessions are also available. Laurie’s studio is portable, so she can bring it to your home, office, or location of your choice.

Indoor sessions are also available in my home studio or other indoor location you choose.
Portrait sessions can be done in my home studio with a black or white backdrop for a modern look, or even in your home. I will bring my studio to you. We can use elements of your home for a more personal portrait. Studio portraits are also ideal for intimate maternity portraits and especially newborn portraits.
